Drawn and Quartered: An Exhibit of Collages

“Drawn and Quartered” is the second solo exhibit of Michael J. Rosen’s collages at Sharon Weiss Gallery. Uniquely, his works are all created from his own paintings and drawings, chopped and puzzled into compositions that invited the viewer into realms their memories and imaginations can inhabit. Rather than clipping magazines or other artifacts, rather than executing his collages based on a still life or an existing scene, Rosen ventures into the realm of play: creativity at its purest and least encumbered. His collages suggest that we can find ourselves, reflected in the familiar objects we have gathered.
